WELCOME TO INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

Dr Sasha Alexander

Director of Academic Program, Industrial Design

The Industrial Design process is human-centred, community-oriented, sustainability-focused, creative, economically grounded, and innovation-driven. Problem-reframing, strategic problem-solving, and high-level visualisation skills inform new product development and interdisciplinary collaborations essential to well-functioning teams, complex challenges, and new value creation. Students create desirable forms, highly functional user requirements; and manufactured for assembly, disassembly, modularity, and circularity.

Industrial Designers are empathic to people and place; hold competencies in 3D computer modelling, prototyping, and 3D printing; and diverse skills in digital innovation for communication, user experience journeys, Start-Ups, sustainable futures, design research, and leadership, ranging from design for health and wellbeing to leisure, and everyday utility.
