INTRODUCING THE PARRAMATTA ENGINEERING INNOVATION HUB

Professor Mike Kagioglou

Dean, School of Engineering Design and Built Environment

It is my immense pleasure to introduce the brand-new Parramatta Engineering Innovation Hub.

A building and space that provides an innovative environment for disciplines to meet and cross their individual boundaries; for innovation to flourish through co-location with industry and Launch Pad; for the delivery of exciting academic programs that challenge our impact to society at large; for students to realise their potential and make a mark through their ambition, and so much more.

Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, companies, universities, individuals and organisations come together to create the future. Come and join us in this journey!

INNOVATE. COLLABORATE. DESIGN

Solar Car

A student led team of passionate innovators who are pushing the limits of renewable energy and striving to change the world of mobility and create a sustainable future. Their aim is to design, engineer and manufacture a safe, efficient, and cutting-edge solar powered car that uses new and emerging technologies.

MakerSpace

MakerSpace is where you can bring your ideas to life! These facilities are open for students, industry and community who can access rapid fabrication equipment to produce prototypes and design projects. Our MakerSpaces include 3D printing, 3D Scanning, laser cutting, woodworking and metal fabrication equipment.

Super Labs

PEIH contains 4 Superlabs. These practical spaces have been designed for agility and can be set up for class sizes of up to 40, or 80 students, with extensive AV coverage, and an ability to be repurposed quickly when required. They are located on floors 2 and 4.

Design Studios

These studios were designed by thinking about how to best inspire the creative minds of Architecture and Industrial Design students. The Design Studios are equipped with advanced digital technology systems for hands on workshops and lectures which are essential to the education of the next generation architects and product designers.

Launch Pad

Launch Pad is a Tech Startup Incubator operating since 2015. Launch Pad was established to enable the growth of the startup community in Western Sydney and drive the development of a sophisticated innovation ecosystem for the region. A home to a group of innovators working together to rethink, redesign, and launch products and companies that enrich our lives.

New Program

Western Sydney University and UNSW have collaborated to provide the opportunity for students participating in the Collaborative Program to benefit from the expertise of two world-class universities. The Bachelor of Engineering Advanced (Honours) is designed for high achieving students to undertake advanced engineering topics and gain substantial research experience.

EXPLORE THE BUILDING

The design of each floor is inspired by the Western Growth Program innovative approach to learning and teaching: featuring workshop spaces, robotic rooms, Makerspace, Super Labs, study areas, design studios, and tech hubs.
