LETTER from the DIRECTOR

World-class construction professionals

The Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) is a long-established and highly sought-after program with an impressive record of graduate employment. It is accredited by the Australian Institute of Building (AIB, Incorporated by Royal Charter under the Australian Crown) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). The Quantity Surveying major is additionally accredited by the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). This degree also satisfies the educational qualification requirement for a NSW Builder’s Licence through NSW Fair Trading.

The program provides a strong foundation for becoming a world-class construction professional capable of managing complex building and infrastructure projects in the 21st century. It is structured across four key areas - construction technology, construction economics, construction law, and construction project management - offering a comprehensive combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Students may further tailor their studies through one of three majors: Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, or Building. As such, the Construction Management (Honours) program at Western Sydney University prepares graduates for a wide range of managerial roles and career pathways across the construction industry. With a requirement of 1,200 hours of industry-based experience prior to graduation, the program is delivered through flexible and condensed timetables to support participation in cadetships and other work-integrated learning opportunities.

Research within the discipline is driven by the need for evidence-based solutions to real-world industry challenges. This exhibition showcases selected final-year research projects, offering a snapshot of the work produced by our students.
