Hi, I'm Jazmyn. I work in jewellery retail and am studying full-time in Industrial Design Honours. I am a deep thinker, and this reflects in my design. I believe products should be purposeful, yet also evoke emotion, inspire creativity, and help people connect more deeply with the world around them.

Milestone comes from my project Future of Jewellery Merchandising. As a jewellery sales consultant, I noticed a gap between creating practical designs that protect jewellery and designing displays that evoke emotion and engage customers. The paper jewellery stand is inspired by the crab Sebastian and serves as a "home" for this character, which holds sentimental value to me, similar to the sentimental value people place on jewellery. To create its home, I looked to shells and discovered the lightning whelk, which lays spiky, hexagonal-shaped eggs. I translated this natural form into the housing for my crab-inspired display stand. Imagine walking along a beach, picking up a shell, and hearing the ocean. Now imagine that shell with spikes, laying intricate egg patterns on the sand. The interior of the stand is designed to evoke this environment, simulating the sand floor where the lightning whelk lays its eggs. The shape also incorporates the "body as a barrier" theft preventive technique, responding to my design rationale protecting jewellery while creating an emotionally engaging display.
