PROJECT OVERVIEW

Current methods of building self-sustainable living pod villages have been met with significant delays in construction leading to overcrowded evacuation centres, tent villages and community housing. Research has found occupants living in these environments are often detrimental for the mental and physical wellbeing of people for prolonged periods. Evacuation centres and tent villages can have sanitation issues due to shared communal facilities being a facilitator for disease. Shortage of temporary housing can leave emergency personnel having to commute long distances to help with the recovery efforts. Long term, for people rebuilding there homes and returning to there jobs can be a daunting experience. Shortage of temporary housing can find themselves pushed far away from their communities which supply essential social support. With the ever increasing threat of global warming and its current effects comes a new set of challenges to overcome. Through innovative thinking and problem solving the modular walkway system can alleviate the pressure on evacuation centres and community housing faster and more effectively than current methods.
