I am currently studying Architectural design and my entire life I’ve had a passion for creating and designing. Through designing, I aim to combine the built environment with nature, light, texture and movement to make places where life unfolds. Despite my interest in creating architecture I have a deep love for art and aim to use my artistic skills to further improve my ability to design. All together I aim to not only design for function but to create emotions and unique experiences through my work.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This Bathing pavilion is designed for the parramatta river and offers users and escape from the intensity of the surrounding city. The main concept of my design focuses on the interaction between humans and bathing with the natural flow of the river. The pavillion creates an engaging sensory experience through feeling and sound which allows users to immerse themselves in the calm of the environment. The design incorporates pools, foot baths, and a gradual entrance platform that engages directly with the river’s flow. In the pavilion the movement of water is not just visual but functional. The Pavillon takes in the water levels as a crucial design element as it serves as a natural water source during minor flooding events. The pavilion is designed to withstand the changing river levels, allowing the architecture coexist with nature. The choice of materials plays a vital role in reinforcing the project’s emphasis between modernity and nature. Wood elements complement the surrounding nature around he river and soften the combination with concrete. Additionally Concrete provides strength, durability, and resistance to the river’s changing conditions. Together, these materials create a modern yet grounded aesthetic that blends in with its environment. Despite the Pavillon being a place to relax, I also aim to create a space for retreat and reflection. Despite the feel of water, the sound of flowing water between each element of the Pavillon effectively helps mask the noise of the city which invites uses to slow down in life.
